Health and Safety

Paramount to efficient operations is the health and safety of employees, contractors and mine visitors. Our goal is zero accidents, incidents and injuries because no level of injury to any person is acceptable to us. Stringent Health and Safety standards deliver continuous improvement in safety performance and a substantial lowering of our Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate.

Capcoal ensures a safer workplace by training employees to identify workplace hazards, by requiring all employees to commit to standard, safe operating procedures, and importantly, by involving employees and contract employees in ownership of safety.

SAFETY, HEALTH & ENVIRONMENT POLICY

Our safety, health and environment objectives are to:

• Achieve safety, health and environmental performance of which the Company and its people can be proud
• Ensure that care for the environment is an integral part of our business
• Maintain and protect the well being of all persons working for and on behalf of Capcoal and visitors to our business
• Manage environmental impacts to a standard that meets or exceeds community expectations
• Manage safety and health to a standard that meets legislative and business requirements and uphold the values of good corporate citizenship and sustainable development.

To achieve our goals we will:

• Comply with all applicable safety, health and environment legislation and regulations, industry codes and standards and other agreements to which we are a signatory
• Identify the environmental aspects and impacts of our operations, products and services
• Set and review achievable safety, health and environmental objectives and targets to address our risks and impacts
• Promote continual improvement in our operations through the implementation and maintenance of Safety, Health and Environmental Management Systems
• Develop and implement processes for reducing and preventing pollution
• Through training, community consultation programs and review processes, make employees, contractors and visitors aware of this Policy and our Safety, Health and Environmental Management Systems
• Annually review this Policy, communicate it to all internal and interested external parties and make it available to the public.
